Marine Ecology & Fisheries
Who am I?
I’m a marine scientist with extensive experience in fisheries ecology, with a focus on how bottom‑contacting gears interact with life on the seafloor. My work sits at the intersection of science, practice, and policy, relying on fishers’ knowledge, international long‑term monitoring data, advanced spatial analyses, and ecological theory. This combination allows me to understand not only where and how fishing takes place, but also what it means for benthic ecosystems and the communities that depend on them.
Over the past decade I’ve developed indicators, assessed ecological risks, and translated complex data into information that supports real‑world decisions. I enjoy working with imperfect, real‑world datasets and turning them into analyses that managers and stakeholders can use, whether it involves quantifying trawling pressure, evaluating habitat sensitivity, or exploring management options.
Healthy seafloor ecosystems are essential for resilient marine life and the communities that depend on them. My aim is to provide clear, robust, and policy‑relevant insights that help bridge the gap between research and practical management.
